Clutch

I hate having to cram all the stuff that I like to have with me into my pockets. It makes me look lumpy; and I hate hunting for the pair of pants that I might have left something in. I usually make sure that I have at least my wallet and cell phone with me, keys too, but I don't necessarily have to remember my keys because by the time I get to the car I will know. But there are other things that I like to have with me, pen and paper, leatherman, gum... I tried throwing everything into my backpack, but it's big and ugly, making it difficult to take to say a restaurant or meeting. It is also tough to find stuff in my backpack, there are a myriad dark and deep pockets, folds, and zippers, easy to get lost in.

So I tried something new, a little metro, a little old school, not to daring or risky... A clutch, well, ok, it's really just a pencil bag, but it's perfect! It's semi transparent, which allows me to quickly take inventory, it is an open weave which prevents dust and junk from collecting because it just fall through, and its made from durable nylon, which is as macho as a man purse can get. Now it doesn't solve all of my problems, it is too small for everything that went into my backpack, like lunch, and I wouldn't take it into a fancy restaurant, but I can just leave it on the passenger seat of my car when I go in and take out what I need (keys and money). I like it because its light, frees up my pockets, and I think it looks cool but I might be a bit ahead of my time with that call.

I, too, keep a man purse! I use a cheap little bag made for a portable CD player, and in it I keep my Clie with spare charger, cables, and keyboard, as well as a cell phone, business cards, and a USB drive. The Clie is my mini word processor AND MP3 player. Love it! Love having an entire portable office in a little bag.

What the hell do you do with a blowtorch (and extra fuel)?

it's not a blowtorch it's a butane torch like the lighters that are windproof.

I love the idea, but i wanna see a photo with how you sport your clutch. just in ur hand, or what?
I, too, have a problem with bulked up pockets, and either distribute all my stuff around the pockets (especially with a jacket) or throw it in a bag with my books.
I have seen one thing, tho, that was seriously cool and haven't been able to find another one, yet. I think it was called a 'tape snake' and was designed to carry a walkman (yes, the original cassette walkman) and a few extra tapes. Think of Chewbacca's utility belt, but made of coated nylon, slimmer and navy blue. It looked really good slung over one shoulder or across ur chest/back (sorta like a courier bag).
Anyhow, it fit my Tungsten T, cell phone, cards & cash, etc, perfectly, and had a nice slim portfolio. I thought it looked pretty not bad. Unfortuantely, it was not mine to keep and the owner wasn't selling anytime soon.
I wish I knew sewing so I could copy it... I liked it as an alternative to bulky pockets or a bulky bag.

    And I agree: blowtorch?!?! ¿Por quĂ©?

The problem with this and solutions like it is that while it's portable in the sense that you can carry it around, it's not hands-free and you probably wouldn't want to. If it's just a storage system that gets kept in your car, why not use something more organizable, like a tacklebox? I dont' see how this really works as a man-purse solution.

um, why not just bring less stuff all you need is a wallet a lighter your keys, or you could use a mini back pack and you dont need alot of stuff at a meeting or at dinner, leave it in the car. besides mini backpacks are so cute, at least cutter than a clutch (man purse) my sister laughs at guys with man purses like this- ha ha he has a man purse ha ha

I just bought a 12 inch Stanley Tool bag at Target for &10. Lots of little pockets to hold the Moleskine/Hipster, Multitool, Sunglasses, writing implemements etc. A little larger that I would probably carry around town, but it works great as a to and from work bag. As a plus, it's large enough to hold a bottle of water and even 8.5 x 11 sheets folded in half. Besides, it says "Stanley", which rhymes with manly....
